Lord Randolph's pictorial diary of the 2005 Arizona renaissance festival

This will go down in history as the year of the great flood. The second Saturday festival did not even open due to flash flooding that made it imposable to get in to or out of site.

Estrella rained out as far as my siege weapons were concerned.

I laid a new floor in the sales area and the festival extended a weekend.
The problem was all that lay beneath the original floor was clean washed sand, The ground burrowing rodents would undermine it during the year then when festival traffic begins it's tunnels collapse causing sink holes in the floor, for 10 years I have been digging up sunken floor tiles, filling the hole and replacing them.

I could no longer get a satisfactory result with patching and I did not have the time to pull up the floor, stabilize the sand and relay the floor so instead, with the help of my best friend Davie White we slurry coated the existing floor to make a smooth flat stable sub floor then laid and entire new floor over it in dry set mortar mix.
We had from Monday morning until Saturday opening, we finished about 10pm Friday ( at least finished enough to open )

There were 12 tons materials most of which we handled 3 times.

Other than that there were no significant events to report.

The Arizona Renaissance Festival & Artisan Market place produced annually each Feburary and March below the foothills of the Superstition mountains 12 miles east of Apache Junction on US Highway 60
Cheer on brave Knights and roam a 30 acre site filled with castles and cottages, dance and comedy, Kitchens and Pubs and 12 stages filled with nonstop performances of music dance and comedy. Foolish pleasures mix with artisans teasures as you shop, eat and revel with a cast of nearly 2,000 colorfully costumed characters.
The festival is open eight consecutive weekends and Presidents day from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Advance discount admission is $14.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 5-12 available from Fry's food and drug stores. Children 5 and under are free. Parking is free courtesy of Fry's. Admission is $1 more , except seniors when purchased at the gate. 55 and older are $13 at the gate.
