Lord Randolph's Pictorial Diary of the 2007 Texas Renaissance Festival Weekend 8 November 23,24 & 25

Closing weekend was cold and nasty Friday was the best of the three days being mostly just cold but Saturday and Sunday were soggy.

My Black Friday sales were a moderate success and indeed was the majority of sales for the weekend.

Saturday afternoon the rain paused just long enough for Lady Blue to get married but it did rain on the reception.

We did not get any dressers on Saturday and Sunday but had parades and show because of my beloved owners. Notice how few people line the muddy parade route. Also the photo of a pair of sturdy beggars, it was taken at 2 in the afternoon and looks like sunset.

Jean Underwood won the owners award by not only a perfect attendance but on most days she brought a friend to wear one of her many outfits. Second third and fourth place was a three-way tie between the Cowden sisters and Tink. I thank all my owners especially the ones that continue to do my show (and claim complimentary tickets)

Also on Saturday we received some very exiting news from the festival management. They like the idea of being open after thanksgiving so much they are going to make ending on that weekend the calendar anchor rather than the first weekend in October. I am not particularly fond of the short week, not getting to have a sit down at home TG or being open a three day weekend but despite that I am extremely happy with the change.

Here is why.
For 30 years consistently the hardest week of our lives each and every year is the transit from MN festival to TRF between one weekend and the next we have had to pack up all our stuff, close the mn booth for the year, drive 1350 miles in caravan towing a trailer, clean the Texas booth enough to open and set up the sales floor. That is an insane amount to do in 5 days.
Next year (and most after) will have a weekend between shows. We might even have time to say good-bye to our friends in the great white north.

I do apologize to my fans who have emailed about how long it has taken to get this post up. While I will admit to some slacking it has been nowhere near what I usually get and deserve. I got less than 2 weeks of total emersion EverQuest (the rathe:dudalous/twodles) and things got busy. We took an order for 600 cast coins. The coin just happens to be a 99% match to the group's logo and they wanted the coins (with slight modifications) as a room drop for an upcoming gathering. That is about our usual production for this time of year but all one-coin meant make a dozen new mold and full time work. Don't worry I did manage to get my toons to the new level cap of 80 and most of the new (useful) alternative advancement abilities (both in the 1300+ range)
